One of the most common mistakes we see around here with prospective clients in terms of proper tracking of their sites, is missing tracking codes on various pages on their website. As online marketers, we live and die by the data that we have access to. It’s how we analyze our own performance, as well as keep track of important metrics for our clients. However, none of that can be done, if the entire website isn’t properly tracked!
There are various reasons for why this happens, anything from new pages being added to accidental deletion of the tracking code. Fortunately, if you’re a Google Analytics user, you can quickly and easily check to make sure that your entire site is probably being tracked via your Google Analytics code. We use Screaming Frog SEO Spider to verify correct installation on every page. You can use this tool to automatically detect your Google Analytics code and report back to you what is or isn’t missing.
